What People Are Saying

“I wanted to share some positive feedback about Maurice from Mulga.

I really appreciate how Maurice goes about his work. Today I saw him interact with some kids, an older person with accessibility challenges, an older migrant patron and First Nations patrons, and he was able to connect with all of them despite how different their needs and backgrounds were.

He also shows initiative with practical things, like putting out the A-frame sign and he notices customer service was busy and came over to be on standby which I really appreciated. It makes the security team feel like a genuine extension of the library team.

He also took the time to explain why he sometimes holds back from immediately approaching challenging behaviour between First Nations groups outside the library. He explained that he can often identify who the leaders of a group are through their behaviour and body language, and uses that to judge whether and when he needs to step in.

I don't think I'd fully understood how skilled he is in this area. Honestly, I came away feeling quite humbled by what he shared, and also really reassured. It gave me a greater appreciation for the knowledge and insight the security team bring, and how much that helps support the library team.”

"We have had a strong and trusted relationship with Mulga for the past eight years through the Youth Drop In Sports program. A key strength of their work is their pre-engagement with young people, which underpins the success of their engagement overall. Mulga’s deep knowledge of the young people they work with, combined with their ability to provide culturally appropriate and responsive support, consistently leads to positive and meaningful outcomes."
